I’ve always had a thing for studios. Recording studios, broadcast studios, radio, TV… if it has faders, cables, screens, or people creating something together, I’m interested. That passion has shaped my career for over 40 years, leading projects across Europe and helping people turn ideas into working studios.
I’m not great at talking about myself. I’d rather let my work do that. But if you’re wondering how I ended up doing what I do, here’s the short version.
It all started when I was a teenager. I became fascinated by audio, technology, and the way studios worked. That curiosity never really went away.
After finishing school, I joined Studer Revox in Switzerland, where I was trained in professional audio. It was an exciting time. The industry was moving from analogue to digital, and I had the chance to be right in the middle of that change. Looking back, I was lucky. I got to learn from some great people and work with technology that was changing the way the industry operated.
Over the years, my role naturally grew from technical engineering into sales and finally project management. I found that I enjoyed connecting people just as much as solving technical challenges. Helping teams work together, keeping projects moving, and making sure things actually get delivered.
Eventually, many of my clients encouraged me to work independently. So I did.
Since then, I’ve worked on more than 260 projects across Europe in broadcast, audio, video, media, and corporate. Some projects were small. Others were large, complex, and involved many different companies and stakeholders. I enjoy both.
People often ask what I actually do. The answer is simple: I help make projects happen.
I like bringing people together, keeping things practical, solving problems before they become problems, and making sure everyone is working towards the same goal. You could compare it to a game of chess. It’s about thinking a few moves ahead and never losing sight of the bigger picture.
At the end of the day, I simply enjoy building great studios, working with good people, and helping turn ideas into something real.
If that sounds like the way you like to work too, I’d be happy to talk.

The Creative World of Video Design
The Influence of fast-changing technology and new technological possibilities for Storytelling is a continuous challenge for the industry and for education institutes.
Let's Game!
”Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam decided to develop and build a high-end Esports Space for education and gaming competition. Esports at the highest level possible means you have to confirm to very specific and extreme technical details so you have a level playing field. Apart from that, GLR decided to extends the Gaming Aera with a ShoutCasterBooth, an Interview booth and multi camera control room.”
The technology behind the Dutch radio 3FM
“Okke van Bergen discusses how the introduction of ‘sidekicks’ in the 1980s by DJs such as Curry and Van Inkel has led to changes in studio layout and the way programs are made.”
Continue broadcasting during the renovation, Veronica.
“The Sky Radio Group, located in two buildings in Naarden, recently underwent a renovation of their studio facilities for both Sky Radio and Radio Veronica. Led by Charley Moolhuizen (Director of Operations) and carried out by a technical team, the renovation included updating the technology to meet the standards of today, as well as increasing efficiency. The process required flexibility from all involved, and posed a logistical challenge, as the station had to continue broadcasting during the renovation. However, the final result was worth it. “It was a logistic puzzle,” says Berjan & Okke, “But the result is there.”
New studio for Ambassadors
“Ambassadors Studios, a creative production company in Amsterdam, built a new studio on Herengracht in the historical center of the city. The studio includes video editing and post-production suites, a grading room, and a voiceover studio. The company appointed studio builders OvB & KB to handle the acoustic design, furniture, and integration of the voiceover studio into a large living room space. The project was challenging due to the large size of the building and the need to consider factors such as stability and acoustic characteristics. According to Marco Baay, a partner and sound designer at Ambassadors, “Every detail must be perfect from the initial recordings to the final mix.”
Creating the ideal learning environment
The biggest challenge in this project was integrating existing and new technology and suppliers, including new solutions like ProtoPixel and LuzNegra. The final result had to meet the needs of the end user, in this case the students, by allowing them to play and experiment with the technology in the “work spaces” while also being easy to use. Through collaboration with OvB & KB and various suppliers, D&MS created a state-of-the-art learning environment with a lot of integrated technology. The project was executed using D&MS’s ISO-certified method, including a defined scope of work and approval from GLR.

Building a studio is rarely just about the AV technology. A successful project often involves many different disciplines working together.
Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with specialists in areas such as acoustics, sound insulation, construction, HVAC, electrical installations, structured cabling, furniture, and AV integration. Depending on the project, I bring together the right people and coordinate their work so everything fits together as one project.
I’m completely independent, so I’m not tied to any supplier or contractor. If needed, I can recommend companies I’ve worked with before and trust to deliver quality work. The final choice is always yours.
Whether you already have your own partners or you’re starting with a blank sheet of paper, I’m happy to help assemble the right team and make sure everyone is working towards the same goal.
